John reads his poem “Mesosphere,” published in Facing Goodbye, the new anthology by The Wee Sparrow Poetry Press. He also discusses mourning, the uncertainty of sudden loss, and a new Icarus myth.
Special thanks to John for this contribution to the anthology .
As always there is a lot to think about here .The message behind the mythology etc .
I think regarding new found freedom we have to be careful with what we wish for .Something tantalising can sometimes be proved to be deludingly fatal .
Losing a parent , in this case John's father , can leave one feeling "unbound " and the imagery in John's poem was strong and on point .
Finding oneself afterwards ...becoming adult and mature ,having to find ones feet after loss is not an easy task .
John's "Mesosphere"has pride of place in our Facing Goodbye anthology .
